1. The Jazz Corner

Just because you’ve come to a vacation destination, doesn’t mean you can’t hear some world-class live music on Hilton Head Island. The Jazz Corner is considered one of the best jazz clubs in the country and regularly sells out multiple nights a week. The atmosphere is cozy and intimate, and you don’t have to be a lover of jazz to enjoy the music. Jazz is all about improvisation, so half the fun is watching the artists interact and play off each other. The crowd here is usually older and quieter than what you’d find at a bar by the beach, but it might be just the place to bring your older relatives for a nice dinner and a show.

2. The Boardroom

Chances are, if you’re hitting the bars on Hilton Head, you’ll be at The Boardroom anyway. Located in the Barmuda Triangle on the island’s south end, The Boardroom is a good bet for late-night live music. Plenty of local acts have regular gigs here, and the bar’s small stage makes for a loud, up-close experience with them. Depending on the night and the time, you might have plenty of space to dance or be packed in tight with fellow bar-goers.

3. Tiki Hut

You don’t even have to leave the beach to enjoy live tunes at Tiki Hut. This venue offers music with an uninterrupted view of the ocean as a big bonus. Tiki Hut caters to tourists and has a heavy vacation vibe, but what’s not to love about surf, sand and live entertainment? You can overlook that guy wearing socks and sandals in the corner.

4. Skull Creek Boathouse

Skull Creek is another great spot for live music on Hilton Head with a view. It’s a great restaurant on the Island’s north end, where you can watch boats float by on Skull Creek as you eat. The music stage is set up in an open area adjacent to the restaurant, perfect for drinking a beer while waiting for a table (the restaurant is big, but busy) or ending the evening after a nice meal. Better yet, start your night at happy hour from 4 p.m.-7 p.m. for the best deals and catch the music then.

5. The Big Bamboo

An island constant located in the heart of touristy Coligny Plaza, The Big Bamboo enlists local rock and reggae bands to play at its tropical-themed establishment. The atmosphere is fun and beachy, and especially nice if you can snag a seat on the outdoor patio by the band. If you feel like joining in on the action, Open Mic Night is on Thursday.
