Ridgeland OBO Tandem Rally
Arguably, any time of year is a good time to be in Ridgeland, but certainly don’t be a stranger in early April when the Ridgeland One Behind the Other Tandem Rally takes place. Enjoy a scenic view of Ridgeland as well as local culinary treasures in a festive atmosphere as you and your favorite folks race around on a tandem bike for the three-day event weekend.
Santé South Wine Festival
So, not that anyone needs a reason to pop open a bottle of bubbly and celebrate life around Ridgeland, but it’s always nice to sip and sample for a good cause. In this case, the Santé South Wine Festival, which takes place the first weekend of April and benefits the Alzheimer’s Mississippi organization. Experience over 120 food and wine samplings from over 20 of Mississippi’s top restaurants with fellow epicureans for an exceptional cause.
Ridgeland Fine Arts Festival
If you’re not in Ridgeland the first weekend of April, you’re really missing out. The tandem rally and wine festival are features of the Ridgeland Fine Arts Festival, which is a juried fine arts event at the beautiful Renaissance at Colony Park featuring expressions of multiple mediums including paint, wood, sculpture, clay, glass, jewelry, and more. Music, food, wine, and of course camaraderie make this an exceptional weekend to experience Ridgeland.
Township Jazz Festival
If you missed being in Ridgeland the first weekend of April, then make sure you’re there for the annual Township Jazz Festival. The day-long outdoor event features the musical stylings of some of the region’s most talented jazz musicians and is a proven favorite among locals.
How many times have you gone somewhere and felt like there was nothing for the kids to do? Well, the second and third weekend of April, Ridgeland has the cure for what ails you. Head to Ridgeland during KidFest! Ridgeland for four days spread over two weekends at Freedom Ridge Park. Rides, attractions, a nylon zoo, trains, ponies, karaoke, crafts, and concessions (including ice cream) make this event a literal kid’s dream come true (and don’t be surprised if it brings out the kid in you, too).
Natchez Trace Century Ride
Few views are more beautiful than the national scenic byway that is Natchez Trace. Join fellow cyclists for the Natchez Trace Century Ride; the event jumpstarts the cycling season the second weekend of May. Cycle 25, 50, 62, or 100 miles with “energizer” stops (music, food, drinks) along the way as you discover the beautiful parkway. Celebrate your victory with fellow riders at “Ridgeland Rockin’ after the Ride”. Trust us when we say this event will become something you make an annual tradition.
Pepsi Pops on the Reservoir
The Mississippi Symphony Orchestra (MSO) annual Pepsi Pops concert in mid-May is a beautiful way to enjoy world-class music and equally transcendent views. Head to the famed Ridgeland Reservoir for MSO Pops III: Pepsi Pops at the Rez for a true cultural experience.
Dragon Boat Regatta
Madison County’s annual Dragon Boat Regatta at Old Trace Park on the Ross Barnett Reservoir is an event folks in Ridgeland have enjoyed for nearly a decade. The free festival features—of course—dragon boat races, a children’s village, food, live music, and more! Though the big day takes place toward the end of May, the week leading up to the event features team practices and a party for participants.
Heatwave Classic Triathlon
The first weekend of June, Ridgeland is the place to be. The Heatwave Classic Triathlon consists of a ½-mile swim in the Ross Barnett Reservoir, a 24-½ mile bike ride through the scenic and historic Natchez Trace Parkway, and a culminating 10K run through the heavily-shaded Multi-Use Trail. The Triathlon is a great way to discover Ridgeland’s natural splendor while accomplishing feats of physical greatness.
Eurofest Auto and Motorcycle Show
Equally as lovely as Ridgeland in the spring is Ridgeland in the fall. The best time to visit? The first weekend of October for the popular Eurofest Auto and Motorcycle show, which boasts European engineering and southern hospitality. All show entries may be registered beginning in June, and registrants must be at least 25 years and older; awards are given in several classes.
Of course, this is just a small sampling of the reasons to visit Ridgeland any time, any day, any year. The myriad of events makes it easy to experience Ridgeland’s charming Southern culture and stunning natural scenery, but you can always swing by, stroll around downtown, and experience the sites of Ridgeland because just living life’s an event … so why miss it?
