World-class shelling, outdoor activities, a full-service spa, yoga on the beach … we’re already packing our bags.
At Sundial Beach Resort & Spa on beautiful Sanibel Island in Florida, you can eat, sleep, relax, and play, all without ever having to leave the premises. Sign us up! As if that didn’t convince you, here are 9 of our favorite things about the Sundial Resort that make it the perfect place for your next family vacation.
No matter the size of your group, the Sundial Resort has accommodations for everyone. They offer studios, one-, two-, and three-bedroom condominiums with beautiful views and fully equipped kitchens.
2. Daily Activities
Yep, daily. Make your own tie-dye t-shirt, play some poolside bingo, or do yoga on the beach … there’s an activity for everyone, including kids! You can find the full calendar of events here.
You can’t go to Sanibel and not go shelling—it’s what Sanibel is known for! The resort is located just steps away from the Gulf, so you can walk right out on the beach to hunt for beautiful shells, and then go to the Bailey-Matthews Shell Museum to learn more about them. We won’t tell the kiddos it’s educational if you don’t.
Eat breakfast, lunch, (and maybe second lunch? C’mon – it’s vacation) and dinner with four family-friendly dining options, all without even having to leave the resort. Treat yourself to dinner at the Shima Japanese Steakhouse & Sushi Bar, or keep it casual at the Sea Breeze Café, Turtle’s Pool & Beach Bar, or pizza at Slice of Paradice.
5. Bikes, Paddleboards, and Kayaks
Get your fill of adventure during your stay with on-site bicycles (including two-seaters and kids’ bikes), paddleboards, and kayaks—all available at the activities center and complimentary for guests. This is the part where you work off that second lunch.
6. Sanibel Sea School
For kids, the Sanibel Sea School is a great way to learn about the island and all the creatures that live here. Try one of the family activities like bird watching and shell walks, or drop the kids off for a half- or full-day course to get some alone time (you remember what that is, right?).
Pamper yourself with a massage, facial, or manicure at the Kay Casperson Lifestyle Spa, located right on the premises. You can even bring the kids—they have a service menu for children 10 and under and one for teens ages 11 and up.
With Bailey’s Marketplace and General Store on-site, you’ll never need to leave the resort for anything you may need. They have everything from homemade fudge to sunscreen (two things we can’t live without now that we mention it …), plus grocery items you can pre-order and have delivered. Food waiting in your room when you get there? Now that’s how you do vacation.
Whether you’ve been playing for years or just want to start learning, Sundial’s six HydroGrid clay tennis courts have something for everyone. Play in a tournament or take lessons with the resort’s resident tennis pro. You’ll be swinging like Serena in no time.
